Zions Bank, officially known as Zions First National Bank, is an American bank with headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah. As of December 2013, Zions Bank operates 145 full-service branch locations and more than 150 ATMs in Utah and Idaho. It has over 2,400 employees and is among the oldest financial institutions in the State of Utah. Zions First National Bank is a subsidiary of Zions Bancorporation, a leading bank holding company that operates over 500 branch offices and 600 ATMs in Arizona, Colorado, Nevada, California, Idaho, Oregon, Utah, New Mexico, Texas, and Washington.
Being a full-service bank, Zions provides commercial loans, mortgages, and installment loans; foreign banking services; trust services; electronic and online banking services; automatic deposit, nationwide banking, and transfer services; as well as convenient checking and savings program. The bank further offers credit cards, foreclosed properties, SBA programs, money market, CDs & IRAs, credit lines, student & youth accounts, investment services, executive banking, treasury management services, international banking, agricultural finance, wealth management and financial planning services.
Zions Bank’s history can be traced back to 1873, when Brigham Young founded Zion’s Savings Bank and Trust Company on July 10th. The company became the first chartered savings bank and trust company in the State of Utah. On December 31st, 1957, Zion’s Savings Bank and Trust Company, Utah Savings and Trust Company, and First National Bank of Salt Lake City merged to form Zions First National Bank. The apostrophe in Zion’s was dropped when the three banks were merged.
Zions First National Investment Company was incorporated on February 17, 1961 in Nevada, and it became the majority owner of the Zions’ stock controlled by the Keystone group. Zions First National Investment Company was renamed to Zions Bancorporation in 1965.
